SP leader Swami Prasad Maurya resigned from the post
Lucknow. Samajwadi Party’s National General Secretary Swami Prasad Maurya, who was in the news for his controversial statements, resigned from the post on Tuesday. Swami Prasad Maurya gave this information on his X account. While posting the resignation letter, he has tagged SP President Akhilesh Yadav and Samajwadi Party.
Swami Prasad wrote that I could not understand that I am a National General Secretary, whose statement becomes a personal statement and there are some National General Secretaries and leaders of the party, whose every statement becomes that of the party, at the same level. How some officials make personal statements and some make party statements is beyond understanding.
The second surprise is that due to my efforts, the inclination of tribals, Dalits and backward people has increased towards Samajwadi Party. The party’s increased support base and the efforts and statements to increase the support base are not from the party but are personal. If there is discrimination even in the post of National General Secretary, then I think there is no justification for continuing in such a discriminatory, unimportant post. Therefore, I am resigning from the post of National General Secretary of Samajwadi Party, please accept it. I will be ready to strengthen the party even without the post.
He wrote in his letter that ever since I joined the Samajwadi Party. Since then continuously tried to increase the support base. On the day of joining SP, I had given the slogan – Eighty-five are ours, there is division even among 15. Our great men had also drawn a similar line. Baba Saheb, the creator of the Indian Constitution, Dr. Ambedkar talked about “Bahujan Hitay Bahujan Sukhay”, while Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia said that “Socialists tied the knot, backward got sixty out of a hundred.” Similarly, the slogan of Kanshiram Saheb, the great leader of social change, was – “85 versus 15”.
Maurya further said that despite the sudden change of candidates in the 2022 assembly elections, he was successful in increasing the support base of the party. The result of this was that while SP had only 45 MLAs in 2017, this number increased to 110. Without any demand you sent me to the Legislative Council and immediately after made me the National General Secretary, thank you very much for this honour.
