Chandil: A villager’s leg was broken due to the attack of a wild elephant in the forest area
Jharkhand: The menace of wild elephants has started again in Chandil forest area. Thieves are roaming in elephant populated areas in different herds. On Saturday night, wild elephants registered their presence in Dumra of Ichagarh block area. Sukram Singh Munda of the same village has broken his leg due to elephant attack in Dumra. This incident happened early on Sunday morning. After the incident of breaking his leg due to elephant attack, the local people took him to a nursing home located at Milan Chowk for treatment. Where doctors provided first aid. After receiving information about this, forester Mukesh Mahato of Chandil Forest Department and forest guard Kailash Mahato reached the hospital. The Forest Department referred the injured Sukram to Jamshedpur for better treatment and got him admitted in Jamshedpur. It is being told that two elephants had reached Dumra.
Elephant drive squad will be sent
Forest Area Officer Manager Mirdha of Chandil said that the villagers have informed about the arrival of elephants in number of two in Dumra of Ichagarh block. The elephants had reached the village only on Saturday. He told that elephant drive squad Dumra will be sent on Sunday evening. The squad members will drive the elephants back towards the forest. He told that as soon as information was received that a person’s leg was broken due to elephant attack, forest workers were sent and after providing immediate financial assistance, the injured was sent to Jamshedpur for better treatment. The ranger said that after sending the wild elephants back to the forest, they are coming back to the populated area again. In such a situation, villagers need to be alert. Firecrackers etc. have been distributed to the villagers for protection from wild elephants. He told that the department is serious in the elephant issue.
