If the bride’s side did not fulfill the dowry demand, the groom refused to marry
Sambhal: When the groom’s side refused to marry when the dowry demand was not met, the bride’s side complained about the matter to the SP. After this an agreement was reached between both the parties. Seven days after the wedding date, the groom arrived with his wedding procession and the rituals were completed. A young man, resident of a village in Junwai police station area, had married his daughter to a resident of the same area.
The wedding procession was to come on 28th February. Three days ago, the groom’s side had refused to bring the wedding procession as the dowry demand was not met. The girl’s father had filed a complaint with the police accusing her of demanding dowry and abusing him. When the police did not take action, the girl’s father complained to the SP.
After this an agreement was reached between both the parties. When the groom reached the girl’s house with the wedding procession on Wednesday, the girl’s side welcomed the wedding procession. After this, the marriage ceremony was completed with joy and the girl was sent off.
The wedding date was fixed thrice
The girl’s family members told that they had fixed their daughter’s relationship about one and a half month ago. It was decided to have a wedding procession on May 4, 2023, but he had refused to get married even before the date. When a Panchayat of elite people of the society was held, again the time was kept for June 11, 2023. But he did not arrive with the wedding procession even on 11th June. After this, Panchayat was held again, the date of marriage was fixed as 28th February 2024.
