ED: ED tightened its grip on Vardhman Educational Society, property worth Rs 1 crore seized
New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has seized assets worth about Rs 1 crore of Vardhaman Educational Society in Uttarakhand. Vardhman Educational Society, which operates the Institute of Management Studies and IMS Institute of Technology Roorkee, owns this land and building in Haridwar district of Uttarakhand.
The Enforcement Directorate has taken this action in the case of SC/ST scholarship scam. The ED had initiated investigation on the basis of FIR registered against the members of Vardhman Educational Society under various sections. Investigation revealed that Institute of Management Studies and IMS Institute of Technology Roorkee fraudulently received huge amount of scholarship amount in the name of SC/ST students from the Social Welfare Department, Haridwar for the period 2013-14 to 2016-17. Was done. It has also been revealed that the institute had made false claims for obtaining scholarships under the SC/ST Scholarship Scheme. After this, the scholarship amount was deposited in the college account after showing the students’ personal expenses and college tuition fees. Then this amount was withdrawn by the President and other members of Vardhaman Educational Society.
The government treasury has suffered a lot due to this. The ED investigation revealed that the ill-gotten amount was diverted either to the bank accounts of Vardhman Educational Society or other accounts of the college and used for the expenses of the trustees. It has also been revealed that cash withdrawal of the amount was also done. In this regard, this action has been taken by the Enforcement Directorate.
