Sessions Judge visits Patti sub-jail, listens to problems of prisoners

Punjab: District and Sessions Judge Priya Sood, who is also the Chairperson of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), paid a surprise visit to the sub-jail in Patti here on Wednesday. Other judicial officers were also with him.

The District and Sessions Judge interacted with the prisoners and prisoners, heard their complaints and ordered the authorities to resolve them. The judge directed the jail authorities to conduct regular medical checkups of the prisoners.
The judge also apprised the prisoners of their rights to file their appeal in the next court and also apprised them of the free legal aid being provided by DLSA. The judge visited the kitchen in the complex and examined the quality of food served to the prisoners.

The judge advised the prisoners to live life as responsible citizens after their release from jail so that they do not have to come to jail again. Other judicial officers accompanying the District and Sessions Judge include Chief Judicial Magistrate Shilpa and Chief Judicial Magistrate Pratima Arora, who is also the Secretary of DLSA. Jail Superintendent Jatinderpal Singh, present on this occasion, was instructed to redress the complaints of jail inmates.
