Balanced diet, regular exercise good for healthy lifestyle: Expert

Punjab: The District Health Department has advised the district residents to adopt a healthy lifestyle to avoid diseases like high blood pressure and diabetes. Health experts said that the main reason for these diseases is unhealthy lifestyle which leads to overweight.

Maintaining a healthy weight means balancing the calories you eat and the calories your body uses. The most important way to help maintain balance is to eat a variety of foods and get regular exercise.

Civil Surgeon Dr. Vijay Kumar said that if people eat a healthy diet and exercise daily, many diseases apart from high blood pressure and diabetes can be avoided. He said that people should avoid unhealthy junk food and give preference to home-cooked food.
He said high blood pressure and diabetes aggravate many other health conditions. Dr. Vijay Kumar said, for most people a daily exercise routine of 30 minutes is enough to keep themselves fit.
