Students take out traffic awareness tableau in Pernem Shigmo parade

Pernem: Gone are the days when school and college students used to take up projects and assignments based on the topics of their textbook. What excites students these days are the civic problems that they want to address seriously and are concerned about, especially the increasing incidents of accidents in Goa.

In this context, students of Viscount High School Pernem and Bhagwati High School Pernem participated in awareness about traffic rules in Shigmo Utsav organized at Pernem. The traffic awareness delegation was led by Pernem Traffic Police Dnyaneshwar H Gavas.

Displaying posters and placards, students participated in the Shigmo float and also distributed leaflets to the public highlighting traffic guidelines. Its main objective was to create awareness on road safety.
Speaking to Herald, Sanjana Pednekar, a student of Viscount High School, Pernem, said, “Today we are celebrating Shigmo and we are here to create awareness about traffic rules and we all are asked to drive slowly and obey traffic rules. Appeal to follow.”

Ashwini, another student of Bhagwati High School, Pernem, said, “Today we participated in the Shigmo parade with placards to make people aware about the traffic rules. We want to tell everyone to drive slowly and avoid carelessness. “Don’t drive through. These days we see an increase in accidents.”
Making an announcement at the Shigmo parade, Pernem traffic police Dnyaneshwar H Gavas said, “On behalf of everyone, I request you to drive your vehicles safely. Drive carefully, wear helmet and seat belt. Traffic to all The rules should be helpful and followed.” “Increasing cases of accidents.”

Gavas also announced that 80% of those who died in accidents were between the ages of 16 and 35. He said that if we all drive slowly and follow traffic rules, then together we can save people’s lives and reduce accidents.
