Passenger trapped in bus stand bench gap; rescued after intense efforts at Ponda
PONDA: In a shocking incident, a passenger Sanjay Fadte’s head got trapped, when he fell asleep and slid into the gap in the bench, at the Old Ponda bus stand on Monday. The passenger aged 38, fell asleep while waiting for the bus, but to his bad luck his head and neck got trapped in the gap of the bench.
The Ponda Fire Personnel who were summoned to rescue Fadte took more than more. On seeing this, the commuters and on lookers at the bus stand heaved a sigh of relief. According to Ponda Fire Station incharge Sushil Morajkar, the incident took place at around 3 pm.
Sanjay Fadte tried to free his head but in vain. Other passengers also tried to free him but they failed. Following this the people informed the Ponda Fire Station. The fire station team led by Sushil Morajkar immediately arrived at spot and after half an hour effort safely cut the bench and rescued the passenger.
The fires station team was led by Station incharge Sushil Morajkar of Ponda Fire Station the other team members were Y N Gawas, Devidas Bayekar, Vaman Gaude, Pramod Gaude, Yogesh Velingkar. They used equipment such as spreader, jack, hydraulic cutter and a crowbar in the rescue operation
