Fire breaks out at Guwahati’s Bijuli Bhavan; residents evacuated safely
Guwahati: A massive fire broke out in Bijuli Bhawan on Friday evening, creating an atmosphere of panic and fear in the neighbourhood. Officials point to an electrical fault and say that the spark of the fire is likely to have occurred around 4 pm. Subsequently, this caused widespread panic among the locals and passers-by.
Responding to the crisis, authorities responded quickly and dispatched fire engines to the scene. About seven or eight were sent. Their objective was not just to suppress the fire. They also aimed to prevent it from spreading to nearby structures.
A local who witnessed the incident shared, “One can see how fast the fire grew.” “A palpable sense of fear spread throughout the local community.” Added the witness. Luckily everyone was taken to a safe place.
Despite the seriousness of the fire, officials of the Paltan Bazar police department did not confirm any casualties or injuries. No report was lodged regarding the incident. However, the extent of damage to the structure or its surroundings remains uncertain.
Paltan Bazar police said, “Safety of persons is our main concern. We are grateful that no casualties have been reported so far.”
Nearby residents and business owners were nervously awaiting updates. At present the cause of the fire is not clear. Initial suspicions suggest an electrical fault as the likely culprit.
“We have started coordinating with the relevant authorities,” confessed an officer involved in the investigation. The investigation is ongoing. Our greatest concern at this time is to ensure the safety and well-being of all those affected.”
