Big action on electricity theft, notice of Rs 4 lakh

Bhilai. The corporation took an 18 kilowatt connection from the electricity company for street lights in the Bhelwa pond complex. From that connection, contractor Shri Krishna Venture started supplying electricity to five Gumti residents. After the raid by the vigilance team, the electricity company has sent a notice to the corporation for recovery of Rs 4 lakh 41 thousand 458.

EE SK Mahadule of Vigilance Department in the electricity company said that after receiving the complaint of electricity theft in Bhelwa pond, the premises was raided for investigation. During investigation the complaint was found to be true. The connection was given for public use. While it was being used commercially. Therefore, the site inspection report was given to the users i.e. Gumti people.

After that, a letter was written to the corporation asking it to provide information about the contractor, including when the contract was given to the contractor and how long he has been operating the kiosks. Accordingly, the bill along with penalty would be collected from the contractor. But the corporation administration did not respond to the letter from the electricity company. Therefore notice has been given to the corporation.
