Mumbai News: IAS officer’s 27-year-old daughter committed suicide by jumping from a building
Mumbai: A 27-year-old woman, daughter of a Maharashtra cadre IAS officer, committed suicide by jumping from the 10th floor of a building near Mantralaya in south Mumbai on Monday morning, police said. Lipi, a law student, jumped off the building near the state secretariat at around 4 am, they said. She was immediately rushed to GT Hospital where she was declared dead, officials said. She was pursuing LLB in Sonepat in Haryana and was worried about her performance in studies, a senior official said. A suicide note was recovered from the spot in which she has reportedly said that no one should be held responsible for her death, the official said. A case of unnatural death has been registered at the Cuffe Parade police station, officials said. The deceased’s father Vikas Rastogi is the Principal Secretary in the Higher and Technical Education Department of Mumbai. Her mother Radhika Rastogi is also a senior IAS officer in the state government. Earlier, Maharashtra cadre IAS officers Milind and Manisha Mhaiskar lost their 18-year-old son in 2017 when he jumped from a high-rise building in Mumbai.
