MVD to tighten inspections from tomorrow; LED lights and speed governors to be checked strictly; IDTR course for drivers
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Motor Vehicle Department is all set to tighten vehicle inspection from tomorrow. Unauthorized modification of vehicles and additional light fittings will be checked mainly. Action will be taken against vehicles equipped with LED lights.
Vehicles whose speed governors have been removed will be released only after fixing the speed governors on the spot. Vehicles with grills covering the number plate will also be seized. It has also been decided to give classes to drivers who have been suspended for causing accidents. Licenses will be renewed only after successful completion of a 5-day course at IDTR.The decision was taken in a meeting called by Ernakulam Transport Minister KB Ganesh Kumar. Every Wednesday at 3:30 PM, the Minister will hold an online meeting with the officials. Officers up to Joint RTO rank should attend the meeting on Wednesdays.
