Police raids on complaint of cow meat selling, 8 people arrested
Jashpur: Jashpur police has arrested 8 people selling cow meat. 90 kg of meat has been seized from them. All the accused have been arrested under various sections and sent to judicial custody. Actually, the police got information from an informer that some people are slaughtering cows and cutting their meat for sale on the banks of Sahrapani Ghughrinala.
chhattisgarh news On the information, Superintendent of Police Jashpur Shashi Mohan Singh formed a team under the leadership of Deputy Superintendent of Police Vijay Singh Rajput and directed to catch and arrest the accused. The police team reached the spot and cordoned off the area and caught the fleeing accused 1. Sebastian Tikka, age 33 years, resident of Nayanagar Kuskumatal, Sarahapani police station Kansabel, 2. Sanatan Lakra, age 31 years, resident of Sarahapani, police station Kansabel, 3. Paikas Lakra, age 30 years, resident of Sarahapani Kusumtal, 4. Santosh Lakra, age 35 years, resident of Sarahapani Kusumtal, 5. Uttam Dan, age 53 years, resident of Sarahapani Kusumtal, 6. Suman Toppo, age 46 years, resident of Bahama Bastipara, police station Kansabel, presently residing at Shantinagar Kansabel, 7. Jewel Dan, age 55 years, resident of police station Kansabel, district Jashpur and 8. Vinit Lakra, age 40 years, resident of Khaura, police station Asta, presently in front of Santosh temple, Kansabel.
On interrogation, the accused admitted to slaughtering the animal. Sharp knife, rope, cash, axe and vehicles used in the incident were seized. About 90 kg of meat was seized from the spot. The accused were arrested under Section 429 of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 4, 5, 10 of the Chhattisgarh Agricultural Animal Protection Act 2004 and sent to judicial custody.
