Nepalese drug racket kingpin arrested from Narkanda
Shimla: Shimla police has arrested the kingpin of an opium drug racket from Narkanda in the district. Police today said the accused has been identified as Ravi Giri (41), a native of Narayanpur village in Dang district of Lumbini Pradesh, Nepal, who was living in Narkanda. The police had arrested two natives of Nepal with 1.5 kg opium near Narkanda on July 3, following which the investigation into the case was launched.
Based on some inputs and ground reports, a police team led by SI Ankush of Theog police station arrested the kingpin of the gang from Narkanda. Theog Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Siddharth Sharma said the accused has been booked under Section 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985 and will be produced in court. He said it has been revealed that since 2022, the accused have made financial transactions worth about Rs 3.4 crore. “All his illegal movable and immovable properties will be identified and confiscated,” the DSP said.
