Sangrur: Awareness spread against drug abuse
Sangrur: To create awareness about drug abuse among people, especially the youth, Sangrur SP (Investigation) Navreet Singh Virk has held several meetings with villagers. A few days ago, Virk met the people of Badrukhan village and told them about the harmful effects of drugs. He said that the local people had told him that 11 youths of Badrukhan village are addicted to drugs.
He directed the in-charge of Badrukhan police post to ensure their treatment at the drug de-addiction center. Apart from this, Virk also held a meeting with the people of Dhaliwal Vas Jakhepal village. He said that some children aged between 12 and 18 years are addicted to consuming narcotic pills, which they buy from a medical store located in Cheema village. He said that the Cheema SHO has been instructed to investigate the matter and take strict action against the culprits. The SP urged the parents to keep an eye on their children and encourage them to participate in sports. Many locals gave information to Virk about drug smugglers in their respective areas.
