FIR registered in illegal mining case in Nalagarh

Solan: Illegal mining activities are not stopping in the border industrial area Nalagarh, where last night the police team recovered a mini truck loaded with mining material and an excavator machine in Mahadev Khad during a surprise raid. Since this area is adjacent to the border of Punjab, the ravines and river banks are being damaged indiscriminately by the mining mafia. The mafia carries out mining secretly at night and in the early morning, so that they can avoid the eyes of the officials. They also use vehicles without registration numbers. The police team seized an unregistered tipper loaded with gravel on the road near Mahadev Khad. The driver fled from the spot on seeing the police. The driver of the excavation machine engaged in extracting mining material from Mahadev Khad also fled from the spot. The police have seized both the vehicles. Meanwhile, Assistant Mining Inspector Sahdev has lodged a complaint with the Nalagarh police today. A case of theft and illegal mining was registered under Section 21(1) of the Mining Act on a complaint lodged by the mining officer, who provided the chassis numbers and engine serial numbers of the two vehicles.
