Many soldiers fell ill, suffered from malaria
Jagdalpur: The security forces personnel who defeated the armed hardcore Naxalites in adverse conditions in Bastar are battling the malaria outbreak these days. In fact, the soldiers posted in remote camps on the Naxal fronts in Bastar are falling prey to malaria these days during the monsoon season and are reaching the hospital for treatment. Two soldiers have died so far in this year’s monsoon season.
The number of soldiers suffering from malaria is continuously increasing in the Bastar division. Apart from this, CRPF and police officers are also falling prey to malaria. The malaria outbreak is increasing rapidly in Bastar. The soldiers fighting the Naxalites in sensitive areas are suffering from malaria. So far, a Bastar Fighter soldier posted in Kanker and an STF soldier posted in Narayanpur have died of malaria.
17 soldiers of the STF camp present in Bastar district were found malaria positive, who were undergoing treatment in the government hospital of Bastar. Bastar IG Sundarraj P. says that the soldiers posted in the forests have been instructed to be vigilant. Along with this, facilities like mosquito nets, Odo mass are also being provided.
