Ludhiana: Gang stealing e-rickshaw batteries busted, 2 arrested

Ludhiana: Moti Nagar Police today busted a gang of thieves and arrested two of its members. The gang used to steal batteries from e-rickshaws and had committed the theft at an e-rickshaw workshop near the cancer hospital in the city. The suspects have been identified as Mohd Sabir Ali Khan, a resident of Agra, and Mukesh, a resident of UP. Mukesh is a resident of New Azad Nagar here.

Inspector Varinderpal Singh, SHO Moti Nagar police station, said that information was received that a gang was stealing batteries from e-rickshaws. Recently, they had stolen batteries from an e-rickshaw workshop. He said that when the police started investigation, the suspects were identified. They were arrested on Saturday. Now their police remand will be sought to confirm their role in other incidents of theft. Police also suspect that the gang members might be stealing e-rickshaw batteries from vehicles parked in residential areas. The role of some scrap vendors is also under investigation.
