Chandigarh: Former baseball player dies at the age of 29
Chandigarh: The local sports world was plunged into mourning as Simrat Singh, 29, breathed his last due to medical complications. Gill, a seven-time All India Inter-University medallist in baseball and softball, was posted at Bhavan Vidyalaya, New Chandigarh. He represented Chandigarh in the School National Baseball and Softball Championships and also represented the country in the Presidential Baseball Cup, Tehran, Iran. The Indian team won the gold medal in this championship. His father Dr Gurcharan Singh Gill is an Assistant Professor of Physical Education at Sri Guru Gobind Singh College, Sector 26.
