Jalandhar: Woman arrested in husband’s murder case
Jalandhar: Sonia, a resident of Kukar Village, Jalandhar Cantt, has been arrested for the brutal murder of her husband. She allegedly killed him by slow poisoning him around two years ago. She was arrested from Gurdaspur on Tuesday. According to SHO Anil Kumar, Sonia was involved in the case along with her lover Manjinder Singh. She was produced in a local court and has been taken on two-day remand for questioning. Investigation revealed that Sonia, who worked as a labourer in Kukar village, had developed a close relationship with Manjinder.
Under his influence, she started poisoning her husband Happy over a period of time. Manjinder, who allegedly administered the poison, pressured Sonia to commit the crime. Sonia had fled the city after Happy’s death. The case came to light when Happy’s father Baldev Singh raised doubts over his son’s death, which was initially considered natural after the death on November 10, 2022. Singh suspected that his daughter-in-law was slowly poisoning Happy. The suspicions were confirmed when mobile phones recovered from the couple’s house provided crucial evidence linking Sonia and Manjinder to the crime. As a result, the police began investigating the case, resulting in the filing of an FIR on Sunday.
