Punjab: Former MP expressed concern over failed samples of pharma companies

Punjab: Former Rajya Sabha MP Avinash Rai Khanna has expressed concern over 52 medicines, including paracetamol, failing the quality test conducted by the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO). In a letter to the National Human Rights Commission and Health and Family Welfare Minister JP Nadda, Khanna has expressed disappointment over the lack of quality control by pharmaceutical companies and called it a direct threat to public health.

He stressed that compromising on the quality of medicines is unacceptable as it directly threatens the health of citizens. He emphasized that every person has the fundamental right to access safe and proper healthcare and the negligence shown by these pharmaceutical companies is a gross violation of these rights. The former MP demanded the Health Minister to take strict action against companies manufacturing substandard medicines. He said that strict guidelines should be issued to all pharmaceutical companies to ensure compliance with quality standards so that the public can get safe and effective medicines.
