New Terminal to come up in Bhubaneswar Airport: Union Civil Aviation Minister
Bhubaneswar: A new terminal to come up in Bhubaneswr Airport. The said terminal will be built next to the old terminal, said Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu on Friday after reviewing the Bhubaneswar Airport.
Now Bhubaneshwar Airport connects 20 cities of the country with 4 places abroad. The current terminal in Bhubaneswar has a capacity of 40 to 50 lakhs. It will increase to 80 lakh within the next year, said the minister.
The new terminal is planned to be constructed within two years. Soon work of the runway CAT II lights will be completed within a month. The other small works that are going on will also be completed.
The capital of Odisha has this airport which is gradually expanding. A plan has to be prepared for the next 10 to 20 years. With the construction of a new terminal, there will be separate arrangements for domestic and international passengers.
Now this airport is connecting 20 cities in the country. Further demands are coming to connect other parts of the country. This will be discussed with the Ministry and decisions will be made, the minister said.
