Leader of Opposition Dr. Charandas Mahant wished the people of the state on Vijayadashami Dussehra

Chhattisgarh Assembly Leader of Opposition Dr. Charandas Mahant congratulated the people of the state on the occasion of Vijayadashami Dussehra, the festival of victory of truth over untruth. Leader of Opposition Dr. Charandas Mahant said that this festival gives us the message of establishing peace, harmony and mutual brotherhood by eliminating the demonic tendency prevalent in the society. Dr. Mahant called upon the people of the state to eliminate the evil within themselves and ensure their participation in the development and prosperity of the state. Vijayadashami Dussehra marks the end of Durga Puja and the nine-day long Navratri festival. This was the day when Lord Shri Ram defeated Ravana, while Mother Durga freed the gods and humans from their atrocities by ending Mahishasura, there is also a tradition of worshipping weapons (astra-shastra) on Vijayadashami.

This day also marks the beginning of preparations for the festival of lights, Diwali, which falls about 20 days after the festival. Lord Shri Ram’s victory over Lanka and Maa Durga’s Mahishasura Mardini avatar happened on Dashami, hence it is called Vijayadashami. Vijayadashami Dussehra is a symbol of victory of good over evil and truth over falsehood.
