Himachal: Ramlila concludes in Kotli after 10 days
Himachal Pradesh: Ramlila Mahotsav organised at Community hall at Kotli in Mandi district concluded yesterday after a 10-day long event. Presiding over the closing ceremony, local MLA Anil Sharma expressed pride in the tradition and said that in today’s “social media” era, such events have stopped at many places. He congratulated the organisers and donated Rs 30,000 from his voluntary fund, wishing them to continue the tradition in future. The function began with a grand welcome for Sharma, with floral garlands and traditional drums being played.
Samiti members, including president Prashant Mohan, general secretary Ashwani Kumar and treasurer Kamal Kishore honoured the MLA by presenting him a shawl, cap and a memento. Local panchayat representatives and social workers attended the event. The event was organised in the memory of former Samiti president Beeri Singh Palasra, where the MLA paid tribute by garlanding his portrait and lighting a lamp. Also present on the occasion were Palasara’s wife Vimala Devi and son Yogesh Kumar, who contributed Rs 5,100 for the celebration. The performance concluded with a dramatic depiction of the fierce battle between Lord Rama and Ravana, which led to the defeat of Ravana and the subsequent coronation of Rama. This year’s Ramlila Mahotsav concluded successfully on the occasion of Sharadiya Navratri.
