Stock market closed in red, Sensex slipped 152 points
New Delhi: The stock market closed in the red on Tuesday’s trading day. Auto, IT and PSU banks remained under pressure. The BSE Sensex closed at 81,820.12 after slipping 152.93 points or 0.19 percent at the end of trading. At the same time, the NSE Nifty closed at 25,057.35 after falling 70.60 points or 0.28 percent.
The Nifty Midcap 100 index closed in the green at 59,593.25 after rising 127.80 points or 0.21 percent at the end of trading. The Nifty Smallcap 100 index closed at 26,149.10 after falling 48.80 points or 0.19 percent.
The Nifty Bank closed at 51,906.00 after rising 89.10 points or 0.17 percent. Buying was seen in Nifty Realty, Media, FMCG. At the same time, auto, IT, PSU banks, pharma, metal, energy, health care, oil and gas sectors remained under pressure. The market trend remained positive.
On the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), 2,073 stocks were trading in the green, 1,879 stocks in the red. At the same time, 112 stocks closed without any change. BPCL, ICICI Bank, Britannia and Bharti Airtel were among the top gainers of Nifty. HDFC Life, Bajaj Auto, Wipro and Bajaj Finance were the top losers.
ICICI Bank, Bharti Airtel, Asian Paints, HCL Tech, Adani Ports, ITC, NTPC were the top gainers in the Sensex pack. At the same time, Wipro, Bajaj Finance, Tata Steel and JSW Steel were the top losers.
According to market experts, “The domestic market witnessed a decline, influenced by mixed global trends and partial profit booking. Although the decline in crude oil prices is beneficial for the domestic economy, they indicate a slowdown in global demand. In addition, India’s CPI jumped due to food prices, which will delay the expected rate cut.”
Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) increased their selling on October 14. They sold equities worth Rs 3,731.59 crore. On the other hand, domestic institutional investors also increased their buying and they bought equities worth Rs 2,278.09 crore on the same day.
The stock market opened in the green on Tuesday. The Sensex was at 82,189.42 after gaining 216.37 points or 0.26 per cent in early trade. The Nifty was trading at 25,189.25 after gaining 61.30 points or 0.24 per cent.
