Himachal: Horticulture College becomes winner of Nauni Youth Festival

Himachal Pradesh: Horticulture College Nauni was declared the overall winner in the annual inter-college youth festival concluded at Dr. YS Parmar Horticulture and Forestry University, Nauni on Friday. The three-day event saw spirited competitions in various categories including literature, theatre, fine arts and performing arts in which all the four university colleges participated. Additional Deputy Commissioner Ajay Yadav was the chief guest at the closing ceremony where teams performed group folk dances. The performances, which had live depictions of Nati and regional dances, made the audience sway. After an exciting series of performances, Horticulture College was declared the overall winner while Forestry College secured the first runner-up position. In other competitions, Horticulture and Forestry College, Thunag topped the group dance, while Forestry College stood second.

Forestry College secured first position in group singing competition, while Forestry College stood second. In Light Vocal, Mohit of Horticulture College secured first position, while Deepak of Thunag College secured second position. In the Patriotic Song category also, Horticulture College secured first position, while Forestry College secured second position. Forestry College emerged victorious in One Act Play and Pantomime, while Horticulture College won the Skit event. In Mono-Acting, Diksha of Forestry College secured first position, while Bharti of Horticulture College secured second position. In Extempore Competition, Akanksha Koundal of Neri College emerged victorious, while Shaifali of Forestry College secured second position. In the Poster Making Competition on the theme ‘Developed India@2047’, Vanshika of Forestry College won. In the Speech Competition on the theme “Gender Sensitization and Women Safety”, Oshin and Siya of Horticulture College won the first and second prizes respectively. In the Painting Competition on “Climate Change”, Shlok of Horticulture College secured first position. Aniruddha and Sumita of Horticulture College secured first and second positions respectively in the debate competition on the topic ‘Can Artificial Intelligence replace Human Intelligence’, while Yashvi and Rohini Mehta of Horticulture College won the collage-making competition on the topic ‘Sustainable Agriculture’. Akhilesh of Thunag College won the rangoli competition. During the closing ceremony, Chief Guest Ajay Yadav appreciated the efforts of the students for showcasing traditional dances and addressing social issues through their performances in various competitions. Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Rajeshwar Singh Chandel congratulated the students and the event organisers for the successful Yuva Mahotsav, which provided a platform to celebrate the diverse talents of the students of the University.
