Preparations for paddy procurement completed in Durg district

Durg. Complete preparations have been made for paddy procurement in the district as per the guidelines of the government. An estimated 6,48,484 MT of paddy will be procured from 1,14,651 registered farmers in Kharif year 2024-25 through 102 procurement centers of 87 cooperative societies. Last year 5,87,369 MT of paddy was procured from 1,05,778 farmers. Paddy will be procured in the procurement centers from 14 November 2024 to 31 January 2025 at the support price. The rate fixed for thin paddy is Rs 2320, thick paddy Rs 2300 and paddy sarna Rs 2300 per quintal. On the first day, 14 November, paddy procurement will start in 88 procurement centers of the district. 60 thousand quintals of paddy will be procured from 1206 farmers who have received tokens in the said centers. Collector Richa Prakash Chaudhary today reviewed the paddy procurement system at the procurement centers of cooperative societies Chandkhuri and Thanaud. She inquired about farmer registration, electronic weighing machine, moisture measuring instrument, availability of gunny bags, computer and operator, electrical system, CCTV etc. Along with this, she gave necessary guidance to ensure that there is no mistake in the system.

The collector also observed the registration of the farmer’s area in the computer and the paddy being sold by them and the surrender of the area. The committee manager of the cooperative society Chandkhuri informed the collector that 60 thousand 500 quintals of paddy will be purchased from 1142 registered farmers at the procurement center Chandkhuri. 55 thousand gunny bags are available at the center. Other necessary preparations have been made. The committee manager of the cooperative society Thanaud informed that 80 thousand quintals of paddy will be purchased from 1455 farmers registered at the procurement center Thanaud. 58 thousand gunny bags are available at the center. On 14th November, the purchase of 288 quintals of paddy from 4 farmers who have received tokens will start.

Collector Choudhary told the committee managers that the farmers coming to sell paddy on the first day should be given a grand welcome. Complete care should be taken that farmers do not face any problems in selling paddy on other days as well. He directed the Food Controller in charge to install CCTV cameras at the entrance of the procurement center, paddy heaps of farmers and computer room and to form committee-wise teams for CCTV camera monitoring.
