Himachal: Remote Lahaul village connected with 4G services
Himachal Pradesh: Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said here today that remote Rarik village in Lahaul and Spiti district has been successfully connected with high-speed 4G broadband services. “This achievement has been possible with the support of BSNL, which has helped residents of this cold and challenging region, where temperatures often drop below zero degrees, to have access to modern telecom services,” he said. The newly-established 4G service site at Rarik has been set up using Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) technology. The chief minister said the state government has played a proactive role in ensuring the success of this initiative. “Himachal Pradesh is the first state to give 100 per cent approval for land transfer under the 4G saturation project. All the necessary approvals from the state departments were given in a timely manner, facilitating the installation of 4G towers in the uncovered villages. So far, approvals have been provided for 366 forest and 46 government sites, covering a total of 658 locations. So far, 294 towers have been made operational, while work is in progress on 37 additional towers,” he said. Sukhu said the government is dedicated to improving the lives of the residents of tribal and remote areas by providing them quality and high-tech services. “Since assuming power, the Congress government has implemented several measures to uplift the living standards of people in tribal and remote areas. The government had celebrated Himachal Diwas for the first time in April 2023 at Kaza in Spiti Valley,” he said.
