Textile parks to be set up in Anantapur and Kurnool districts
Penukonda (Sri Sathya Sai district): Handloom and Textiles Minister S Savita has revealed plans to set up textile parks at Pamidi and Rayadurg in Anantapur district and Amiganur and Mylavaram in Kurnool.
Minister Savita said plans are afoot to set up stalls for weavers across the state. Apart from this, weavers will also be given weavers’ tools at 90 per cent subsidy. According to her, in 2015, the then TDP government allotted 90 acres of land for a textile park at Amiganur, but the subsequent Jagan government cancelled the textile park and allotted the same land for Jagananna Awas. Someone approached the court and brought a stay order against the government’s decision after 2019. The textile park is now being processed by the present TDP government. The textile park will generate more than 5,000 jobs.
Savita said the government would soon announce its textile policy. She said some MPs had come forward to issue MPLADS for weavers to set up stalls. The minister said Health Minister Satya Kumar had played a key role in setting up a mega textile park with an investment of Rs 30 crore by the Union Ministry of Handloom and Textiles.
