Cover well for safety of children, animals at Chandor
A well situated by the side of famous monument of Braganza family (Braganza house) at Chandor, requires maintenance and must be protected by a boundary wall or fence so that the public do not throw garbage next to it or in it.
The well is open and in an unsafe condition which is dangerous to children and animals. The owner of this well should cover it by placing a wrought iron cover on the top.
Recently, a cow fell in the well at night. This is the second incident in few months. Such incidents will continue if the Guirdolim Village Panchayat and the owner do not take any action.
With no required equipment, the authorities concerned had a tough time to conduct a rescue operation and the water was also muddy and smelling badly. Efforts should be made to clean the well and install safety measures to avoid any untoward incidents.
Request the village panchayat and owner of this well to clean and cover it as soon as possible and fence the boundary so that the area is safe.
Both the rescue teams — fire brigade and animals rescue – should procure the required equipment for their departments so that the teams can handle all emergency situations in future swiftly and efficiently, and stop pointing out fingers to one another.
