Punjab: Notice to officer for delay in bridge construction

Punjab: A notice has been issued to the Executive Engineer of Public Works Department, National Highways over the delay in the construction of the bridge being built on the Sirhind Canal near Nehru Stadium in Rupnagar. The bridge is being constructed by PWD, National Highways. The construction work of the bridge has not been completed even after the stipulated time, due to which traffic chaos has increased in the city and people of about 30 villages nearby are facing a lot of problems. DC Himanshu Jain said that during the investigation it was found that the construction work of the bridge is going on at a very slow pace. Now time till December 15 is being sought to complete the work of the bridge, which shows the negligence of the concerned officials. A large number of people are facing problems due to the delay in bridge construction. The work of the bridge will be reviewed in the next 4-5 days. The Deputy Commissioner directed the officials of the department and the representatives of the company to speed up the ongoing work.
