Punjab: Campaign launched against drugs
Punjab: Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria launched the ‘Nasha Mukt-Rangla Punjab Abhiyan’ on Gurupurab, the martyrdom day of the ninth Sikh guru, Guru Tegh Bahadur. The governor said the campaign will be aligned with the ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’, a national initiative led by the Ministry of Social Justice. Addressing the challenge of cross-border drug and weapon smuggling through drones, Kataria said, “Punjab has a 533-km long international border, making drug and weapon smuggling a major challenge. But agencies are making efforts to engage with local village committees to tackle this challenge.” He said Punjab has received 26 anti-drone systems to tackle cross-border drone smuggling.
