Jalandhar: The victorious AAP rebel has not revealed his cards yet
Jalandhar: Of the 85 wards, where AAP has won the maximum number of seats, followed by Congress and BJP, the most interesting is the victory of Tarsem Lakhotra, who contested as an independent. After feeling betrayed by the party, he decided to contest as an independent and won. Former Congress councillor Tarsem Lakhotra had quit the party and joined Aam Aadmi Party for better prospects ahead of Jalandhar West bypoll, but was upset as his name appeared in AAP’s first list from ward number 46, but his name was removed in the second list that came five hours later. Rajnish Bhagat was given the ticket in his place. Lakhotra turned rebel and decided to file nomination as an independent. He had said then, “I have quit AAP. I have not joined any party yet. I will decide about my future move after the results on December 21.” He got 1,940 votes, while Rajnish Bhagat got 962 votes. Lakhotra expressed his happiness. He said, “I am thankful to the people of my ward, who voted for me against the government. This means that they are impressed with my work.” Lakhotra further said that since yesterday he has been going door to door to thank people. “Yesterday evening I was with my people. Today too I have started going door to door from 10 am to express my gratitude to the people,” Lakhotra said. Now Tarsem Lakhotra has options open. He said, “The results have been declared only yesterday. I will decide the next step. Right now I am thanking the people of my ward for keeping faith in me.” Whether he will join AAP again or some other party, only time will tell.
