Jashpur: FIR has been lodged against BJP MLA Raimuni Bhagat from Jashpur, Chhattisgarh. This FIR has been registered in the controversial comment case against Jesus Christ. During the hearing, the court has also issued a notice to the MLA and asked him to present his side on January 10.
When the police did not file a case against Jashpur BJP MLA Raimuni Bhagat, a petition was filed in the court on 10 December 2024. Now the crime has been registered under sections 196, 299 and 302 of the BNS.
The incident took place on September 1 last year in Dhegni village of Asta police station area. Raimuni Bhagat attended the inauguration program of the social building of Bhuihar community in this village. During this time, tribals who have converted to religion are accusing her of making controversial remarks.
They allege that, during the address in this program, the MLA had commented on Jesus Christ. He had said that if Jesus Christ can come alive after death, then why do the converts need a cemetery?
Earlier the police did not file an FIR
Calling this statement an insult to Jesus Christ, the converts had applied to register an FIR in all the police stations and outposts of the district. On this, after investigating the matter, the police did not find anything controversial in the MLA’s speech. The applicants were advised to appeal in the court.
On this, Harmon Kujur, a resident of village Dhegani, filed a petition in the district court on 10 December 2024. During the hearing, advocate Vishnu Kuldeep recorded the statements of 6 people and presented the CD of the video in the court.
Judge Anil Chauhan considered the allegation of the petitioner as hearable. After the hearing, a notice has been sent to MLA Raimuni Bhagat. He has been asked to appear in court on January 10 and present his side. At the same time, MLA Raimuni Bhagat refused to say anything in this matter.
