Essay writing competition for schools in Haryana on Veer Bal Diwas

Chandigarh: Reiterating the government’s commitment to honor the unparalleled sacrifice of Sahibzadas Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini virtually inaugurated an essay writing competition in state schools on Friday, marking ‘Veer Bal Diwas’.

The initiative aims to ensure that the message of the Sahibzadas’ martyrdom, courage, and steadfastness to truth reaches every child in Haryana.

Lakhs of students from different districts joined the virtual event, during which the Chief Minister interacted with them and encouraged them to reflect on the inspiring lives of the young martyrs.

CM Saini said that reading and understanding the story of the Sahibzadas strengthens students’ clarity of purpose and determination.

He said that the competition is being held in four languages – Hindi, English, Punjabi, and Sanskrit – so that children can easily express their thoughts and showcase their abilities through well-written essays.

The Chief Minister pointed out that Guru Gobind Singh’s younger sons, Zorawar Singh and Fateh Singh, displayed tremendous bravery at just nine and six years old, respectively. He said their sacrifice is a lasting symbol of courage and truth.

He also recalled that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had decided in 2022 to celebrate December 26th every year as “Veer Bal Diwas” to commemorate these brave children nationwide.

CM Saini urged students to understand that responsibility and moral courage are independent of age. He said every child should fulfill their duties honestly, protect cultural values, and contribute to nation-building.

Students should face challenges without fear and remember that true bravery lies in standing up for the truth.

The Chief Minister said that teachers play the role of guides and nation-builders.

“Just as Guru Gobind Singh Ji instilled courage and righteousness in his sons, today’s teachers shape the thoughts and character of the next generation.”

He urged teachers to focus not only on academics but also on instilling values, discipline, kindness, and honesty in students, as these form the foundation of a strong society.

The Chief Minister emphasized that students should learn discipline, courage, principles, and patriotism from the lives of the Sahibzadas.
