Kerala: Roof collapses at Kollam District Hospital, falls on patient’s body
KOLLAM: A cement layer of the roof collapsed and fell on the body of a patient, who underwent a surgery in the district hospital. The layer fell on the body of Shyam (39) of Kanjiramvila in Sooranad. The layer of the roof of the ward adjacent to the operation theater on the first floor fell on his body.
The incident happened at 8.30 pm last night. Shyam was shifted to the ward at 3 pm after surgery for the leg injuries sustained in a bike accident. The layer fell while he was on his bed. Since he was lying on one side, the remains did not fall on his face and he escaped without injuries.
The layer also fell on the next bed. The hospital staff later removed the layers. The patient was then shifted to another bed. Protests were staged in the hospital by many including councilors led by BJP mandalam committee.
