NC exposed for playing vote bank politics in Rajouri-Poonch: Vibodh

Rajouri: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former MLC, Vibodh Gupta, has strongly reacted to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s recent comments about the establishment of a National Law University, calling them unfortunate and insulting to the people of Jammu province. He said such statements clearly show how the NC government has deliberately widened the divide between Jammu and Kashmir over the past few years and reduced border and hilly districts like Rajouri-Poonch to mere vote bank politics. Addressing a meeting here today, Vibodh Gupta said the Chief Minister’s comments about establishing institutions like IIT and IIM in Jammu reflect the anti-Jammu mindset of the National Conference (NC). He said, “Such statements prove that the NC has consistently worked against the interests of Rajouri-Poonch, Ramban, Kishtwar, Udhampur and other areas of Jammu province.” Highlighting the neglect of Rajouri-Poonch, Vibodh pointed out that despite electing seven MLAs from the NC-led government, the government is neglecting both border districts.
Vibodh further emphasized that Rajouri-Poonch is not only worthy of establishing a major institution like the National Law University (NLU), but is also an ideal location for it, given its pleasant climate and excellent connectivity. He said that if the BJP had been in power in the UT, the law university would have been established in Rajouri-Poonch in accordance with the party’s core philosophy of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, and Sabka Vishwas.” Vibodh also emphasized the far-reaching impact of the Modi government’s beneficial policies in Rajouri-Poonch, such as opening Eklavya schools for better education of tribal students, lifting the ban on inter-district recruitment, granting ST status to the hill people while maintaining ST reservation for the Gujjars and Bakarwals. On the contrary, he said the NC government had failed to meet the expectations of the people of both districts. Senior BJP leader and former Rajouri Municipal Council chairman Mohammad Arif, along with BJP leaders Yogesh Sharma, Riyaz Choudhary, Varun Chandan, Mamta Dutt, and Mulish Sharma also spoke on the occasion.
