Tamil Nadu: The DMK has criticized the Union Budget for neglecting Tamil Nadu, stating that the BJP will not win the assembly elections.
In this regard, Tamil Nadu’s Minister for Natural Resources, S. Regupathy, issued a statement: No specific schemes for Tamil Nadu have been announced in the Union Budget. There has been no announcement regarding the release of the stalled education funds of Rs. 3,548 crore, the Jal Jeevan Mission project funds of Rs. 3,112 crore, etc. There is also no announcement regarding the Coimbatore and Madurai Metro Rail projects.
No concrete announcements have been made to protect the industries in Tiruppur and Coimbatore, which have suffered losses worth billions of rupees due to US tariffs.
Tamil Nadu’s tax share, which contributes 9 percent to the country’s economy, has been reduced to just 4 percent, resulting in a loss of approximately Rs. 5,000 crore every year. The BJP central government is trying to deceive the people by making hollow announcements such as a tower for trekking in the Pothigai hills and bird watching in orchards.
The BJP central government is pretending to announce special schemes in the budget to woo states, especially Tamil Nadu, where elections are due.
During the 2021 Tamil Nadu assembly elections, the Union Budget presented at that time mentioned an industrial corridor in Madurai, a multi-purpose marine park in Tamil Nadu, a modern national highway from Madurai to Kollam, the development of 5 fishing harbors including Chennai and Kochi, and the establishment of 7 new textile mills. The status of all these projects should be clarified.
No matter how many masks the AIADMK or the BJP wear, they will never be able to dominate Tamil Nadu, not even in the upcoming assembly elections. S. Regupathy stated that they have betrayed Tamil Nadu even in the Union Budget because they have realized this fact.
