The Teachers Selection Board has announced that the TET exam for teachers will be held on July 4 and 5.

Tamil Nadu: The Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) for teachers working in government schools will be held on July 4th and 5th. The Teacher Selection Board has stated that applications for this exam can be submitted from February 18th.

On September 1st last year, the Supreme Court ruled that passing the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) is mandatory for teaching and promotion in government and government-aided schools. The ruling also stated that those who have not yet passed will have to take the exam within the next two years.

Following this, the Special Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) exam, i.e., the TET exam for in-service teachers, will be held three times a year in Tamil Nadu, once every four months.

The School Education Department had stated that the 2026 elections would be held in January, July, and December. However, the election dates have not been announced.

In response, the Teacher Selection Board announced the following on Friday:

The Teacher Eligibility Test for working school teachers will be held on July 4th and 5th. The first paper will be held on July 4th and the second paper on July 5th.

Applications for this selection can be submitted from February 18th to April 10th. Uploaded applications can be corrected from April 11th to 13th. For more information, please visit the Teacher Selection Board’s website (https://jjjj.tksh.tk.ny).

Although the TET exam for working teachers is scheduled for July, many working teachers have already taken the regular TET exam, which took place on November 15th and 16th of last year. Most of them passed with good scores.

Passing Score… According to a government order issued by the School Education Department on January 28th of this year, the minimum passing score for the TET exam in Tamil Nadu is 50 percent (75 marks) for the PC, PC-Muslim, MBC, TNC, and Persons with Disabilities categories, and 40 percent (60 marks) for the SC, SC-Arundhati, and ST categories. The passing score for the General category is 60 percent (90 marks).

It’s also worth noting that this reduction in scores also applies to the TET exam held last November.
