Heavy snowfall in Chennai and surrounding areas, causing problems for drivers

Tamil Nadu: Chennai and surrounding areas this morning (15 Feb.) Typically, winter in Tamil Nadu begins in late December, with the end of the Northeast Monsoon, and continues throughout January until the end of Mangkhali. Snowfall is heaviest during Mangkhali, and gradually subsides thereafter.

The beginning of the month of Tai brings the heat. However, this year, snow and cold persisted even after the monsoon season ended on January 20th and the beginning of Tai.

While the Meteorological Department had warned of light snowfall in Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram, and Chengalpattu districts today, snowfall intensified in these areas since early morning. Due to the smoky-like snowfall and the intense cold, drivers were unable to start their vehicles in the morning and were driving with their headlights on. It is noteworthy that a press release issued by the Meteorological Department said that there will be light snowfall in Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu, Villupuram and Cuddalore districts on February 16.
