Odisha: Excels in IndiaSkills 2025-26, wins 57 medals to become the top state in the country
Odisha: Odisha surpassed other states across the country in IndiaSkills 2025-26, securing the top rank thanks to its outstanding performance. Talented youth from the state won a total of 57 medals at the national championship, including 15 gold, 12 silver, and 14 bronze medals. In addition, 16 participants received Medals of Excellence. This success is a testament to Odisha’s strong skilling policies and youth empowerment efforts.
The closing ceremony of the national championship was held at the India Expo Centre & Mart in Greater Noida. During the ceremony, the state government, led by its Skill Development and Technical Education Minister, Sampad Chandra Swain, commended the hard work and commitment of Odisha’s youth. He stated that this achievement reflects the state’s world-class training standards, strong culture of skill excellence, and institutional support.
Bhupendra Singh Poonia, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of Skill Development and Technical Education, and Rashmi Ranjan Mahapatra, CEO of the World Skills Centre, also praised the competitors’ excellent performance and wished them continued success in upcoming WorldSkills competitions.
A total of 90 participants from Odisha participated at the national level, of which 57 won medals. The competition was held in diverse fields such as construction, manufacturing, ICT, creative arts, and services. The medal-winning participants were given a grand welcome at the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar.
More than 650 candidates from across the country participated in IndiaSkills 2025-26, showcasing their skills in various sectors. The competition was held at select centers in Greater Noida and Odisha. The program aims to promote technical skills, innovation, and competitiveness among India’s youth.
Officials at the World Skills Centre, Bhubaneswar, stated that this achievement is not only a result of the participants’ hard work and discipline, but also reflects the state’s strong skilling ecosystem and high standards of training. They also stated that the successful candidates will represent India in future WorldSkills competitions and bring glory to the country on the global stage.
Skill Development and Technical Education Minister Sampad Chandra Swain congratulated the youth, saying, “This success reflects Odisha’s future direction and the global potential of its youth. We will continue to work towards providing world-class skills to our youth.”
Thus, Odisha’s outstanding performance in IndiaSkills 2025-26 not only strengthened its image nationwide but also set an example for Indian skills on the global stage through its young talent.
