Over 7000 nominations filed in Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu: Nomination filing for the Assembly elections ended on Monday (April 6). According to the Election Commission, over 7,000 petitions were filed across Tamil Nadu.
As soon as nomination filing for the Assembly elections began on the 30th, 3,430 petitions were filed in the first three days. While Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, Thaveka leader Vijay, and Naam Tamil Party chief coordinator Seeman filed their petitions on the first day, members of his party and several prominent ministers did not file their nominations.
Since Monday (April 6) was the last day, most candidates filed their petitions. According to Election Commission data, over 2,500 petitions were filed on a single day on Monday.
In Salem district, Leader of the Opposition K. Edappadi Palaniswami and Union Minister L. Murugan filed petitions in Edappadi and Avinashi. Minister Durai Murugan filed petitions in Katpadi, Minister P.K. Sekhar Babu in Chennai Port, Minister E.V. Velu in Tiruvannamalai, Minister Gandhi in Ranipet, M.R.K. Panneerselvam in Kurinjipadi, Palanivel Thiagarajan in Madurai Central, Minister Rajendran in Salem North, and Minister Rajkannappan in Mudukulathur.
Former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam filed petitions in Bodi, former Minister C.V. Shanmugam filed his nomination in Mayiladuthurai, former minister Senthil Balaji in Coimbatore South, BJP state president Naina Nagendran in Sattur, BJP MLA Vanathi Srinivasan in Coimbatore North, Soumya Anbumani in Dharmapuri, Vijaya Prabhakaran in Virudhunagar, DMDK general secretary Premalatha Vijayakanth in Virudhachalam, Tamilisai Soundararajan in Mylapore, and Tamil Nadu Congress president Selvapperundhagai in Sriperumbudur.
Karur: The Karur constituency alone has the highest number of petitions filed in the state at 108. This is followed by Thondamuthur with 77 petitions, Perambur with 66 petitions, Coimbatore South with 60 petitions, Salem West with 59 petitions, and Paramathi Vellore with 52 petitions.
Twenty petitions have been filed in the Kolathur constituency, where Chief Minister M.K. Stalin is contesting, and 40 petitions have been filed in the Chepauk-Thiruvallikeni constituency, where Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin is contesting. 66 petitions have been filed in the Perambur constituency, where Thaveka leader Vijay is contesting, and 39 petitions have been filed in Trichy East.
Scrutiny: Nomination papers submitted in all 234 constituencies across Tamil Nadu will be scrutinized on Tuesday (April 7th). This will determine which petitions will be rejected.
Following this, the deadline for withdrawal of nominations has been extended to the 9th. The final list of candidates will be released on the same day.
Supplementary Voters’ List: Meanwhile, the Election Commission has begun publishing a supplementary voter list, including eligible voters from among the 648,285 people who applied for inclusion. Based on this, the printing and distribution of booth slips is also set to begin.
