Chennai: Preparations for the swearing-in ceremony are in full swing, with tight security arrangements in place at the Nehru Indoor Stadium.
Tamil Nadu: Preparations have been completed in Chennai for the swearing-in ceremony of the new Tamil Nadu government. TDP leader Vijay, considered the state’s future Chief Minister, will be sworn in today (May 10) along with his cabinet. The ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai.
A large number of political leaders and dignitaries are expected to attend the swearing-in ceremony. Senior Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, has also arrived in Chennai to attend the event.
According to reports, the TDP won 108 seats in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. However, the support of 118 MLAs is required to form a government in the state. Despite falling short of a majority, the TDP has claimed to form a government based on the support of other political parties.
It is reported that the TDP has received the support of the Congress, Left parties, the VKC, and the IUML. This support has paved the way for the formation of a new government under Vijay’s leadership.
The administration has made elaborate security arrangements for the swearing-in ceremony. A heavy police presence has been deployed at the venue, Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, Chennai. Around 6,000 police personnel, led by the Chennai Police Commissioner, have been deployed for security.
According to officials, a special security plan has been implemented to address crowd management, traffic control, and VIP security during the ceremony. Surveillance has been increased in the stadium and surrounding areas. Security agencies are constantly monitoring the situation.
This event is being seen as a significant development in Tamil Nadu politics. This coalition-based government could influence the state’s political direction.
