Education Must Nurture Creativity, Ethics And Innovation: Odisha Governor
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati on Friday stressed the need for an education system that goes beyond textbooks and examinations to foster curiosity, creativity, innovation and critical thinking among students.
Addressing the 8th edition of the annual education conference “Utkarsh”, organised by Kanak News in Bhubaneswar, the Governor said education plays the most important role in building a sense of excellence among the youth.
He said students should not only become skilled professionals but also responsible citizens guided by empathy, ethics and social commitment.
The Governor observed that true excellence is reflected not only in academic or professional success, but also in character, integrity, discipline, compassion and the continuous pursuit of knowledge.
Highlighting the National Education Policy 2020, he said the policy is driving educational reforms through holistic and skill-based learning.
Stating that technology is transforming society rapidly, he emphasised that human values must remain central to progress. He called upon teachers, policymakers, parents, media organisations and students to work together to ensure quality education, equal opportunities and holistic development for every child.
Expressing concern over rising drug abuse in society, the Governor underlined the role of universities in prevention and awareness generation. He referred to a short film competition on drug awareness organised by Lok Bhavan, saying 10 selected films would be screened in public places and along roadsides under the supervision of the Director General of Police (DGP).
He also urged media organisations to widely broadcast the films to create greater public awareness.
The Governor appealed to people to follow Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for “Economic Self-Reliance” to strengthen the country’s economic security and ensure a sustainable future.
He praised Sambad, Kanak News and Radio Choklate for organising such conferences and promoting education and social progress.
