Tamil Nadu: Relief expected amid heat wave, rain alert issued in 8 districts

Tamil Nadu: Amidst the intense heat in Tamil Nadu, signs of a change in weather have been observed. The Agni Nakshatra has been prevailing in the state since May 4th, causing temperatures to reach record levels in several districts, including Chennai. Temperatures in some areas reached 110 degrees Fahrenheit, severely disrupting normal life and causing residents to suffer from the persistent heat and scorching sun.

Amidst this intense heat wave, a change in weather has now been predicted. The Chennai Meteorological Department has issued an update stating that rain is likely in many parts of Tamil Nadu today. According to the department, an atmospheric circulation has been activated, which could help mitigate the effects of the heat.

According to the Meteorological Department’s forecast, rain is expected in a total of eight districts of the state. These include Tiruvallur, Chennai, Chengalpattu, Kanyakumari, Kanchipuram, and Vellore districts, where light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning may occur at one or two places. There is also a possibility of sudden changes in weather and drizzle accompanied by strong winds in these areas.

In addition, light to moderate rain is expected in Tirupattur and Tiruvannamalai districts. The rain may bring a slight drop in temperatures in these districts, which is expected to provide some relief from the scorching heat.

According to weather experts, changes in atmospheric pressure and increased humidity during this peak summer season create such cloudy and rainy conditions. The system that has been activated may influence local rainfall and provide temporary relief in some areas.

The continuously rising temperatures over the past few days have affected normal life. Roads appeared deserted during the day, and people were leaving their homes only for essential work. Electricity demand has also increased, while water consumption has also increased significantly.

The administration has advised people to take precautions against the heat and urged them to avoid exposure to the sun. The Meteorological Department has now issued a warning in several districts in anticipation of possible rain.

Overall, the possibility of rain in many parts of Tamil Nadu is expected to bring some relief to the people from the scorching heat. However, this change in weather may be temporary, and the situation is being closely monitored.
