Tamil Nadu: Knife attack at function, four masked accused arrested

Tamil Nadu: Police have arrested four masked men in connection with a knife attack at a wedding ceremony on Nettoor Church Street near Alankulam in Tenkasi district. The incident occurred Friday evening while the wedding party was underway. The sudden attack created panic and tension in the area.

According to reports, six masked men arrived during the wedding ceremony and began chasing some of the people already present. They then attacked the attendees with knives. A total of six people were injured in the attack. The accused fled the scene after the incident.

The injured include Ramesh (46), his son Arun Maran (22), Rayappan (19), son of Gabriel, Marka Ramesh (49), son of Gnanamuthu, Ramkumar (19), son of Ayikudi Sekhar, and Madasamy (19), son of drummer Sambhavar Vadakarai Paramasivan. With the help of local residents, all the injured were immediately transported to Alankulam Government Hospital via 108 ambulance.

After receiving first aid, the seriously injured Ramkumar was referred to Tirunelveli Government Medical College Hospital for further treatment, where he is currently undergoing treatment. The other injured are undergoing treatment at Alankulam Government Hospital.

Tension spread in the area following the incident. A large number of villagers gathered in front of the Nettoor Church and protested, demanding the immediate arrest of the accused. They stated that such incidents pose a serious threat to the peace and security of the village and that the administration should take immediate strict action.

The police took the matter seriously and intensified the investigation. Based on technical investigations and local information, the police arrested four masked suspects. During preliminary investigations, the police are investigating the motive behind the incident and the role of other potential suspects.

Police officials stated that the search for the remaining accused is ongoing and they will all be apprehended soon. It is also being investigated whether the attack was the result of an old rivalry or some other reason. Following the incident, additional police forces have been deployed in the area to control the situation and prevent any untoward incidents.

The administration has appealed to the public to maintain peace and assured them that the case will be investigated impartially and strict action will be taken against the culprits.
