Tamil Nadu: Health Department issues strict warning to government doctors and nurses

Tamil Nadu Tamil Nadu: The Public Health Department has warned government doctors, nurses and health workers that strict action will be taken against those who do not come to work on time. The department has directed all District Health Officers to ensure that all medical staff working in government hospitals remain on duty as per the scheduled time.
According to the guidelines of the Health Department, it is mandatory for departmental doctors in government hospitals to provide outpatient treatment from 7.30 am to 12 noon. Besides this, doctors and nurses will be on duty 24 hours a day on a rotational basis to monitor the inpatient department.
The duty timings for other doctors have been fixed from 9 am to 4 pm. The Station Medical Officer (RMO) has been entrusted with the responsibility of operation and maintenance of the hospital from 7 am. The hospital supervisor is also required to be on duty from 8 am.
Outpatient department timings for dental and surgical treatment are 8 am to 1 pm and 3 pm to 5 pm. The department has clarified that no non-medical staff will be allowed to treat patients or administer injections. If non-medical staff is involved during the treatment, disciplinary action will be taken against the doctor concerned.
The Health Department said that this step has been taken to ensure the safety of patients and better health services. Under this, strict standards have been implemented to ensure timely duty and proper monitoring in hospitals.
The department has directed all hospital administration and senior officials to conduct regular inspections and take immediate action against employees who do not report to duty on time. This will provide timely treatment and facilities to the patients and will also increase the efficiency of the hospital.
After this notice, vigilance has increased among the staff in hospitals. Officials said it is important to ensure that doctors, nurses and health workers follow the rules and there is no negligence of any kind.
The Health Department also said that if these guidelines are not followed, disciplinary action will be taken against the concerned employees, which may include actions like warning, transfer or salary deduction. This step of the department is considered important towards the safety of patients and improvement in hospital operations.
