Congress appoints new in-charges in Odisha, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana

Odisha: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has made a major organizational change, appointing new party in-charges for Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana. AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge has appointed Lalji Desai as the new in-charge of the Congress Party in Odisha. Lalji Desai replaces Ajay Kumar Lallu, who previously served as the state in-charge in Odisha. Ajay Kumar Lallu was appointed AICC in-charge of Odisha in February 2025. Now, Lalji Desai has been given the organizational responsibility in his place.
Lalji Desai is a senior Congress leader from Gujarat and has been associated with the party organization for a long time. He has been serving as the Chief Coordinator of the Congress Seva Dal, a frontal organization of the Congress, since 2018. The party has given him this new responsibility due to his extensive experience in organizational matters.
According to party sources, Lalji Desai has been given the responsibility of strengthening the organizational structure, activating grassroots workers, and expanding the party’s support base in Odisha. Sanjay Dutt has been appointed in-charge of Haryana, while Rajendra Pal Gautam has been appointed in-charge of Uttar Pradesh.
