PM Modi’s witty remark at Sanand Semiconductor inauguration draws applause for his ‘panchayat’ dialogue

Gujarat: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) facility set up by CG Semi in Sanand, Gujarat, on Saturday. During his address, he used the famous dialogue “Sun rahe ho na, Vinod” from the popular web series “Panchayat” in a light-hearted manner, generating laughter and excitement among the audience present at the event.

This humorous moment occurred when Prime Minister Modi was highlighting India’s rapidly developing semiconductor ecosystem and responding to a comment by Vellayan Subbaiah, Chairman of CG Power & Industrial Solutions. His impromptu pop-culture reference elicited loud applause and laughter from the guests on stage and the audience.

The atmosphere of the event briefly shifted from a serious industrial discussion to a light and playful tone, enlivening the entire auditorium. People associated the Prime Minister’s style with ease and familiarity, which also reflects an informal and popular side of his speaking style.

Earlier at the event, Vellayan Subbaiah, Chairman of CG Power & Industrial Solutions, praised the Central Government’s vision for industrial development in India. In his address, he cited two Gujarati proverbs to explain India’s semiconductor journey, highlighting the connection between local culture and industrial development.

Subbaiah stated that India is rapidly progressing towards becoming a global semiconductor hub, and the government’s policy framework and investment climate have played a key role in this. He also indicated that the new OSAT facility will significantly contribute to strengthening the country’s electronics and chip manufacturing capabilities.

In his address, Prime Minister Modi emphasized India’s expansion in the semiconductor sector and the steps taken towards self-reliance. He stated that India is now poised to become a strong player in the global supply chain, and that such projects will elevate the country’s technological capabilities to new heights.

The OSAT facility, established in Sanand, Gujarat, is considered a significant step for the electronics and semiconductor industry. This project will not only increase chip packaging and testing capacity in the country but will also create new employment opportunities.

While the event featured serious discussions on industrial development and technological advancement, PM Modi’s lighthearted “Panchayat” dialogue became a highlight of the event. It created a positive and relaxed atmosphere among the attendees.

This inauguration ceremony is being seen as an important milestone in India’s semiconductor mission, reflecting a combination of government policy, private sector participation, and technology investment.
