Telangana: Locals staged a protest at the Yadadri Thermal Plant over unfulfilled promises.

Residents who lost land for the Yadadri thermal power plant staged a dharna at the plant’s main gate at Veerlapalem in Damaracherla mandal of Nalgonda district on Monday, demanding implementation of assurances given during land acquisition.

The protesters stopped vehicles carrying plant employees from entering the premises for some time and raised slogans in support of their demands.

They alleged that the government had promised employment to local youth, particularly members of families whose land was acquired for the project, but the assurances had not been fulfilled.

The protest was withdrawn after officials assured the demonstrators that their demands would be taken up with the state government.
